GOOD Based on 44 reviews Steff D2025-05-19Verified Great for large groups looking to visit Normandy and learn! I stayed at the Chateau with a large group and was lucky enough to stay in the new Woodland Village. Comfy beds and great bathroom facilities with the most delicious food on top. Location is ideal for visiting to must see sights. We visited the British Memorial and Juno Beach but will definitely be heading back to see more. Highly recommended Louisa G2025-05-12Verified Could not have asked for more! We had a great stay at Chateau du Baffy. The food was excellent- many thanks to Chef Thierry and the team. The beds were very comfortable and rooms were clean. It is also a great base to explore the area and very close to points of interest such as the British Normandy Memorial and Juno beach. 830sharonn2025-05-12Verified Rural France Lovely two night stay, perfection location for many attractions, D Day landing beaches, Bayeux, Cheese Farms and other French delights. whilst staying in quiet, rural peaceful accommodation, waking up to birds singing. John P2025-05-12Verified Fab Weekend Our group of friends made a reservation to travel to the Chateau for the weekend. Sadly two of us were unable to travel as we had prior arrangements. The rest of the group had a fantastic time and were very looked after. From my perspective the pre travel communication during the booking stage was brilliant with every eventuality being planned for and anticipated. I hope to make it to the Chateau with my family at the end of August ann b2025-05-12Verified Great location to explore Normandy Enjoyed a fabulous VE day party weekend with friends at Chateau du Baffy. Yana C2025-05-12Verified Perfect weekend away What a fab place, bursting with history and a perfect location! The food is to die for too! It was a lovely weekend, shared with friends and wonderful memories have been made. The visit to British Normandy Museum was definitely the highlight, very moving and humbling. Mel C2024-06-22Verified A great base to stay to explore the Normandy area We stayed here as a school group for 4 nights whilst travelling with 'Select travel'. The chateau staff were extremely helpful and friendly towards both the staff and children. The rooms were very clean, all with ensuite facilities and the staff had coffee/ tea making facilities too. There was a continental breakfast served each morning in our own dining room with freshly baked croissants or pain au chocolat, a variety of cereals and yoghurt. We were provided with demi baguettes and an assortment of salami, ham, cheese , tomato and lettuce to create our own packed lunches which was perfect for the children. Added to that was a packet of crisps, biscuits or cake and a variety of fruit and a bottle of water. Supper was three courses each evening, all ingredients were fresh and everyone ate well each evening. They catered well for those with dietary needs. One night we had a campfire and they provided hot chocolate and marshmallows, another we had a taster of frog's legs and snails. We also had a bowling trip. The chateau is within easy reach of the d-day landing beaches, the new British Normandy memorial , various museums, the Bayeux tapestry and Mont St Michel. It was a great place to stay and we all felt very well looked after.
The Château is perfectly situated for our guests to be able to explore all the area has to offer. The Château is just a 20 minute drive from the beach at Courseulles-sur-Mer. A bustling seaside town, with a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, and plenty of sports facilities like tennis courts, a sailing school, horse riding, a football stadium and a heated outdoor pool (summer only). It boasts beautiful views down the coast of the famous Landing beaches and is home to the Juno Beach Centre, overlooking Juno Beach, a museum dedicated to the contribution of the Canadians during the War.
Bayeux, known for the Bayeux Tapestry (closed for renovation Sept 2025–Spring 2027), offers medieval streets, a Gothic cathedral, and access to nearby D-Day beaches. Caen, steeped in history and linked to William the Conqueror, features Caen Castle, historic abbeys, museums, markets, and access to D-Day sites. Crèully, between Bayeux and Caen, has the medieval Château de Crèully, once a BBC base post-D-Day, surrounded by peaceful countryside and close to historic sites.
The British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer honors 22,442 British and Commonwealth soldiers who died during D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. Opened in 2021, it features a bronze statue and 160 stone columns with names of the fallen overlooking Gold Beach. Nearby, the Winston Churchill Centre, opened in 2024, provides an interactive educational experience to help visitors, especially students, learn about the sacrifices made and keep their legacy alive.

Originally a mill driven by the Seulles River, the Château du Baffy was built around 1735, with extensions added in the late 19th and early 20th Century. The mill was dismantled in 1840, but some remains are is still visible. In the 1960s the Château was converted into a hotel.
During the Second World War the the Château’s owners were the Vignerol family who all refused to depart when the Germans overran the area using our fine manor house as headquarters.
Our Château experienced an incredible journey during WWII. “During the war the hamlet of Colombiers-sur-Seulles and those surrounding it, were occupied by the Germans. However in June 1944, Colombiers was liberated. Germans who had been using the château, and hiding in the parks and areas in the lawns, fled the scene, and so those who lived in the chateau celebrated with the soldiers.”
